Ensemble Neue Streicher

General Information

Since its foundation in 1983, the Ensemble Neue Streicher has become one of the most renowned chamber ensembles in Austria. The ensemble generally consists of 15 strings - depending on the occasion, various casts of winds are added. The ensemble mainly focuses on the Viennese music of the 18th and 19th century, following the large tradition of Viennese string sound. The ensemble also collaborates intensely with young composers, which has led to numerous premieres. Ensemble Neue Streicher is a regular guest at important Austrian music festivals like the Wiener Musiksommer, musik aktuell, Grafenegger Advent and has performed in almost all European countries. Several opera productions, radio, CD and TV recording prove the varied interests and skills of this ensemble.
