The Institut für Elektronische Musik und Akustik (IEM), founded in 1965, crosses the developmental boundaries of art, research and experimental development and plays a leading role as an interface between science and art, new technologies and musical practice. The research and development includes the areas of artistic research, signal processing and acoustic as well as computer music.

 

The special infrastructure of the IEM enables the experimental examination of inter-and trans-disciplinary questions. The development of the arts is made possible by promoting the emergence of new works of electronic music as well as sound and media art.
