Nuremberg University of Music

General Information

Year of Foundation:  1998

The Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg is the youngest center for music education in Germany and can still look back on long standing traditions. Its roots go back to 1821 and the foundation of the Städtische Singschule and the Leopold-Mozart-Konservatoriums in Augsburg. Ever since vocal, piano, organ, guitar, accordion and classic saxophone have been offered. It also offers a lively jazz group and a specialist group for ancient music which, through their European networking, consistently bring exceptional events to Nürnberg.

Together with the Staatstheater Nürnberg the university also operates an international opera studio, the Internationale Meistersinger Akademie (IMA) which is a cooperation between the city of Neumarkt, the Juliard School in New York and the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg. An institution which has made a name for itself as a talent factory for the young international elite singers.
