Michael Buchrainer is one of the most exciting talents that I have met in my composition classes. His sharp analytical way of thinking is striking, everything is verifiable. His complicated polyrhythmics are never an end in itself, but determine forms embedded in very personal, delicate motifs. Even if Buchrainer sometimes expects a lot from the performers, he still always keeps his style through harsh self-criticism under control. For the listener the work "episodes" especially has something strangely exciting, but also parody traits are clearly observable.
