Martin Haselböck is present in many different ways in European musical life as a conductor, composer, organ and harpsichord player. After studies in Vienna and Paris, he got awarded with competitive international prices and gained great reputation as a solo artist from early on. Worldwide concert tours take him regularly to the most important music festivals. He appeared as a solo artist with Abbado, Maazel, Muti, Stein. Over 50 solo records document his repertoire, ranging from Bach to Liszt to modern music. Many important composers, including Alfred Schnittke and Ernst Krenek, have composed for the musician, who also composes himself. Even today, he organizes organ recitals as a soloist, in the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Vienna and Berlin's Konzerthaus and other large venues.
The intensive work as a conductor began for the Viennese organ player with the preoccupation with the large repertoire of classical church music. The foundation of the Ensemble Wiener Akademie in 1985 is a result of the intensive analysis of old music: Japan, the United States, Paris, Madrid, Cologne, Milan, Prague are only a few stations of regular concert tours. Martin Haselböck, responsible as a conductor, participated in more than 60 CDs with a repertoire ranging from Bach to contemporary music. His recordings have been awarded several times, for example the German Record Critics' Prize, the Diapason d'Or and the Hungarian Liszt Prize.
He was active as a professor at the Music Academy in Lübeck and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Martin Haselböck has worked as a guest conductor for numerous orchestras: Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, German Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Toronto Symphony, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the National Philharmonic Orchestras from Spain, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Belgium. With the Vienna Symphony, Haselböck performs all the oratorios of Bach, with the Hamburg Symphony, he organises an annual cycle, with works of the Viennese classical music in the Hamburg music hall. Since his debut at the Handel Festival in Göttingen, Haselböck is consistently successful as an opera conductor. He conducted the Zurich Opera several times, Mozart's greatest operas in new productions at the theater Pfalzau, Ludwigshafen, for the first time in Germany with historical instruments. His Don Giovanni was honored in 1991 with the Mozart Prize of the City of Prague. 2000/2001 he conducted the Vienna Academy re-productions of Handel's "Acis and Galatea" Gassmann "La Contessina and conducting Haydn's" The fire "the Vienna Schauspielhaus with the Vienna Academy Neuproduktionenvon Handel's "Acis und Galathea", Gassmanns "La Contessina" und Haydns "Die Feuersbrunst", as the music director of the Viennese Schauspielhaus. Since the season of 2005-06, Martin Haselböck is also the music director of the baroque orchestra Musica Angelica in Los Angeles. As the new director of the Castle Festival Reinsberg, Haselböck conducted in 2007 Weber's "Freischutz", followed by Beethoven's "Fidelio" in 2008.
