Gerald Resch studied composition in Vienna with Michael Jarell, as well as musicology, philosophy and art history at the Vienna University. Study visits in Cologne, Berlin, Paris and Rome helped him to develop a kind of musical poetics that deal closely with the most diverse influences from non-musical fields (architecture, geology, linguistics, textiles etc.). Gerald Resch's compositions are characterised by colour, organics and dramaturgy, as well as openness to unexpected progressions.
