Description of Style

“My way of composing is inspired by nature. In my instrumental works as well as in my vocal pieces as well as in my soundscape compositions there are lots of references to nature."

For instance in my three songs “Pflaumenblüte (Plum Blossom)”, “Mitten im Regen (In the Midst of the Rain)” and “Bäume, blätterlos (Trees, Without Leaves)” of my song cycle “Silver” for Baritone and Organ there you can find reflection on nature as a kind of mediation, as a possible approach to transcendence.

Like “holding on time” my compositions should spread an inner calmness; even after very dramatic sections my pieces should oscillate into an inner calmness. My approach in music is the art of listening: as a composer I’m interested to offer the listener an intense listening experience – even in the field of contemporary music I would like to strike a chord with the listener.” (Gabriele Proy, Austria, Europe)
