Stump studied clarinet at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts and bass clarinet at Amsterdam Conservatory. Her focus lies in contemporary, improvised and experimental music, and she often works with artists from various other disciplines (electronics, dance, acting, jazz and multimedia). Numerous composers have dedicated works to Petra Stump and her ensemble (including Beat Furrer and Pierluigi Billone).
Introducing contemporary and classical music to children in the form of concerts and workshops complements the artist’s creative work.

 

Petra Stump and Heinz-Peter Linshalm are the editors of the clarinet method CLARINET UPDATE – Neue Musik für junge Klarinettisten [Clarinet Update – New Music for Young Clarinetists], published by Doblinger.
She has produced numerous CD recordings for KAIROS, ein_klang_records, Stockhausen Verlag, Gramola and Camerata Tokyo.
