Albert Sassmann was born in Linz, Austria and received his first education as a pianist at the Bruckner Conservatory Linz with Horst Matthaeus. He participated in master-classes of Tatiana Nikolaeva and Jacob Lateiner at the International Summer-Academy Mozarteum Salzburg and finalized his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Hans Kann and Peter Efler. Sassmann is Associate of the Royal College of Music London, and holds a DMA of the Academy of Music Cluj Napoca.


Since 2004 he has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

Mr Sassmann's playing of the central, slow movement was hauntingly beautiful. His light touch, again, was admirably suited to the cheerful final movement. The deceptive ease of his technique created a spaciousness within which the drama and beauty of the whole work.
