The freelance composer and pianist ELISABETH HARNIK, born in Graz in 1970, first studied classical piano, later studying composition with Beat Furrer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
Her compositional activities lead to commissions and performances of her works at home and abroad, such as at the Composers' Forum Mittersill, the Musikprotokoll, Klangspuren, Wien Modern, at the Transart Festival Bolzano, at the Munich Opera Festival, at Soundings London, at the Moving Sounds Festival NYC or at the Graz Opera House.
Her works were interpreted by various ensembles a.o. Zeitfluss, Schallfeld, Klangforum, die Reihe, Kontrapunkte, Reconsil, Phace, Platypus, the Trio Amos, the Trio Eis, Airborne Extended, the RSO Wien, the Thürmchen Ensemble Cologne, the Ensemble Tonfall of the Duisburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ensemble Crush Duisburg, the Fidelio Trio London, the Cantus Ensemble Zagreb, the Ensemble mise-en New York etc.
Harnik works as an improvisational musician worldwide and has received many scholarships and awards. In 2017 she was the winner of the SKE Publicity Award.
