General Information

Place of Birth:  Innsbruck
Region of Birth:

Nationality:

Living in Graz since 1980, Annette Giesriegl is today one of the most versatile and experimental vocalists in the country. She is a singer who, in her various projects, always tries to transcend the traditional musical concepts and to overcome the boundaries between the individual forms of playing and styles.

She likes to devote herself to jazz, especially improvisation. New music - as in her multiple collaborations with Gerhard Rühm - or "new silence" in her project "Zoom" with Mia Zabelka enriches her musical spectrum.

Description of Style

Giesriegl's concern is to extend the limits of the possibilities of the human voice, also with the use of technology. The desciption of her being a "vocal sound researcher" is entirely appropriate.
