Herbert Tachezi studied several subjects at the former Music Academy in Vienna, the Vienna University, as well as in Freiburg (cembalo). Since 1948, he has been living in Vienna. From 1952 onwards, he played in concerts as an organist, cembalo player, specialist for the forte piano and as a musical improviser in Europe and overseas. In 1963, he became permanent staff member of Nikolaus Harnoncourt as solo performer and accompanist. He now lives in Vienna as a freelance musician and is said to be one of the best organists at present. His compositions are focused on organ and vocal music, adaptations, as well as ecclesiastical music.

In my opinion, ideas, intentions and the ability to imagine sounds are still important for composers today. Providing sound, being instrument-oriented and the having the will to address the audience appear to be significant criteria in my music.
