"Music is the purpose of my life. I cannot imagine a life without it. My compositions are varied and differ greatly in form and content, in design and artistic statement, and cannot be classified as belonging to a particular "style of composition". Music does not need to be explained or analysed. One only needs ears and feelings in order to perceive and understand it."
Silvia Sommer, 1996
9. March 1998
A memorable concert with tempestuous long-lasting applause; the audience applauded enthusiastically between the single movements. '5 Israelischen Tänze' by Silvia Sommer, who was present at the concert, was extremely well received.
Il Gazzettino (Daniel Bonitatibus)
25. June 1996
According to our judgement, the 'Concert for two pianos' by the Austrian composer Silvia Sommer performed by the duo Valeri-Montrul was the highlight of the evening. This piece, composed with an obvious mastery of the piano, and the technique of the pianists is rich in rhythmic details and pragmatic in its tonal language. The length of the 'Concert' by Silvia Sommer and its content are remarkably well balanced in relation to each other. It is a great service to contemporary music, especially given her mastery of the instrument. The extended wretchedness of the 'adagio' and the joy and vitality of the 'allegro con fuoco' were performed with great understanding and fluency by the duo.
El Litoral (Mariano Cabral Migno)
23. June 1994
Impressions between "serious" and popular music: Silvia Sommer's 'Concerto' was liked due to its melodic conciseness, which is never prone to being trite, its appealing instrumentation and occasional obliqueness.
Wiener Zeitung (Christian Heindl)
1970
Modernism in five variations: Silvia Sommer played the piano and is the best performer of her 'Sonatine für Flöte und Klavier', a distinctive, imaginative piece.
Kurier (H.M.)
