General Information

The Austrian jazz scene can be more than happy about the large number of talented, creative young musicians working in this country. Two instrumentalists who show highly interesting new stylistic directions in their music are Judith Reiter and Juli Schreitl.

Julia Schreitl and Judith Reiter form the duo JuJu. The word JuJu comes from the West African language. It refers to supernatural forces and has something to do with happiness. A good omen for the experimental project of the two musicians. Not satisfied with viola and saxophone, they have also added singing, whistling and various woodwind instruments.
JuJu plays their own compositions and improvisations, without fear of weird sounds or beautiful melodies. The complex compositions of the duo marvellously combines traditional approaches with modern experimental variations.
