Blue Connection

General Information

Year of Foundation:  2000

The story of the band began in 2000 when the brothers Gunther and Gerald Schuller jointly launched a project that expressed their love for groove and funk. Together with Gregor Hernach, Gernot Kratzer and Roland Rath, they form the veterans of the band. The low frequency range is professionally covered by Johannes Winkler. Vocally the band is supported by various singers, among them Angela Tröndle from Salzburg, and Kati Taucher and Marina Zettl from Graz. Since 2000, the band has produced 6 CDs, performed concerts in Styria, Carinthia and Vienna, built a loyal fan base and collaborated with several outstanding guest musicians.

The musical focus of Blue Connection clearly lies in groove oriented, acoustic music. Here, the arrangement style of the bandleader Gunther Schuller runs like a red thread through all their compositions and gives the sound, with the addition of the outstanding skills of the musicians, a distinctive character.  Music by John Scofield, Maceo Parker, Nils Landgren, James Brown, the Chili Peppers and Jamiroquai, just to name a few, enhance the live performances. Besides concerts at rock festivals, clubs, cafes, exhibition openings and presentations, numerous jazz standards are also part of their repertoire.
