General Information

Year of Foundation:  2006

The CrossNova Ensemble was formed in 2006 from the merge of two standard trio formations (violine-clarinet-piano and clarinet-bassoon-piano), and defines itself as a flexible project-based body of sound, regarding both the instrumentation and the repertoire.
The counterpoint to classic, traditional concerts is primarily formed by contemporary and interdisciplinary projects that also encourage the musicians to try a few steps on the vocal tightrope.
The ensemble can already look back on numerous premieres written specifically for its instrumention (among others by composers such as Johannes Berauer, Till A. Körber, Thomas Mandel, Vladimir Pantchev, Michael Radanovics, Mathias Rüegg, Balduin Sulzer). The young musicians especially enjoy the partially parodic combinations and arrangements of seemingly impossible styles and instrumentations.
In its short history, the ensemble has been able to establish itself in the concert business and is quite popular for refreshing the Austrian festival landscape with new concert experiences.
