Elegy (for Peter)

This elegy is a short fanfare intended for funerals and other memorial ceremonies.
The two trumpets work together, at first playing offset unison passages, solemn and purposeful. The small rhythmic deviations at the opening are then used to develop the work, as the intervals open and become wider, so does the scope of the fanfare.
Towards the close of the work, there is a reference to the long trumpet calls associated with the Last Post, a trumpet call used typically at commonwealth military funerals and wartime ceremonies.
Elegy was written to commemorate the death of Salecich's grandfather.
