Beschreibung
"I have always been fascinated by the difference in the auditory experience between the artificial “White Cube” and its environs as part of the “real world”. The architecture of a “White Cube” acts as a distorting mirror for all sounds that are thrown into it – as a jar with precisely determined measures that inevitably imposes its acoustic characteristics upon the sonic contents. This container is closed, but embedded within the open, virtually boundless “real world” with its reality of a chaotic sound cornucopia, shaped by the multifaceted physicality of sound sources and spatialities.
This variation of the series world construction examines the relationship between such open and closed spaces and communicates between them by means of the “jars of sound”. These are sonic vessels capable of transporting acoustic contents from one environment to another one. On opening the jar in one of the environments, the contained sound from the opposite environment effuses and mixes in. Simultaneously, new sound is immediately captured and remains in the jar until it is opened again in the other space. During the transport operation, the sound is refined inside the jar, it simmers and brews: acoustic characteristics are intensified, temporal details are blurred."
