Weitere Informationen: The main idea of Contr’action I is to look for a balance between “contraction” and “contrast”. Different musical events are compressed to one specific moment (contraction).However, this point is soon left in order to reach another contrasting texture. This piece is not at all a piece for oboe with piano accompaniment. Here,the two instruments are used equally and communicate to each other in different ways; sometimes as a dialogue, some other time in contrasting, or additional, fashion. This piece was written for the final exam oboe of Ineke Craeghs at the “Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel” (Royal Conservatory of Music, Brussels).
